George S. Patton, Jr. was a brilliant and effective military leader who never learned that all great soldiers must be diplomats as well as warriors. The movie Patton describes his career. The makers of the film tried to provide an accurate portrayal of General Patton, consulting historical texts and interviewing people who had served with him. They received a confidential letter from President Eisenhower, Patton's superior during WW II. President Eisenhower knew when to hold Patton back and when to unleash him. George C. Scott gives a masterful performance as Patton.
