To give you a sense of how our Learning Guides can be used by teachers as lesson plans and by parents to supplement school curriculum or for homeschooling, we have set out below a paragraph from the Learning Guide to Chariots of Fire.
There are several references at the beginning of the film to the horrendous price paid by Britain in the First World War. The porters helping the Cambridge students with their luggage as they arrive at school had both been injured in the Great War. They wear their medals on their civilian clothes. The Freshman dinner takes place in a room dominated by "the War List" a very long list of names of Cambridge graduates killed in WW I.
The Learning Guide to Chariots of Fire also contains sections on Benefits of the Movie, Possible Problems, Helpful Background, Discussion Questions, Links to the Internet, and Bridges to Reading. The Discussion Questions are divided into three categories: Subject Matter, Social-Emotional Learning, and Moral-Ethical Emphasis.
